Job Summary:
DuPont is seeking a Principal Investigator to conduct new product/application development efforts at the lab scale with a view to pilot and commercial scale manufacturability
  • Fundamental knowledge of polymers, fibers, textiles, and/or composites, including material structure-property relationships and typical characterization methods
  • Ability to conduct new product/application development efforts at the lab scale with a view to pilot and commercial scale manufacturability
  • Capability to communicate and lead projects across multi-functional teams (Ops, Technical, Supply Chain, Contract Manufacturing, etc)
  • Capability to quickly learn a broad range of markets, product lines, and competitive dynamics and apply materials science knowledge to a variety of applications
  • Ability to translate voice of customer to technical needs leading to innovative solutions
  • Ability to deliver credible technical expertise to internal and external stakeholders in support of manufacturing/product scale up, commercialization, and launch efforts
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish new relationships quickly with external resources as well as internal Safety & Construction resources across sites & regions
  • Excels at teamwork
  • Ability to direct and manage a technologist/technical assistant
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive with a desire to deliver solutions with speed and agility

Job Qualifications

  • Materials Science or Chemical Engineering or Polymer or Organic Chemistry with Ph.D. and 7+ years industry experience preferred
  • At least 4 years in R&D, Product Development, or Application Development roles
  • Experience working with regions outside NA is a plus
  • Based in Richmond, VA or Wilmington, DE
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
