The Safety & Construction business has an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that is advancing the circular economy using the power of business.  As the Global Product Sustainability Leader for the 2LM domain, you will be responsible for leading the team’s commitment to the Product Safety Code of Responsible Care®, delivering product stewardship and sustainability support to the team and serving as a thought partner.  Working as part of this dynamic team and under the direction of the Global Sustainability Leader for the business, you will help to enable success of the business while ensuring that the products being developed are safe, compliant, risk-managed, and trusted.  You will also play an important role internally and externally helping develop new approaches to assess the safety and sustainability of products that utilize recycled raw materials.  The ability to develop a strong external network across all stakeholder groups will be key to your success.


Location: There is flexibility to work from a remote location


Responsibilities

·       Serve as product stewardship and sustainability focal point for the team

·       Understand product hazards to assess product safety and develop responsible product safety guidance, working with toxicology and risk assessment experts

·       Support product stewardship and regulatory compliance needs of 2LM products including regulatory compliance, managing product compositions, Safety Data Sheets and Article Information Sheets, and product labels 

·       Develop and review product literature, providing product safety, product stewardship, and sustainability guidance 

·       Lead product risk characterization and product risk review efforts to assess and manage product risk 

·       Develop and implement sustainability product assessments and coordinate Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies

·       Obtain relevant product sustainability certifications

·       Support customer inquiries on product safety, compliance, and sustainability 

·       Challenge the team to ensure sustainability thinking and messaging is credible and authentic

·       Develop novel approaches to assessing and managing product safety and risk for products using recycled materials, incorporating the latest global thinking on circular economy product stewardship

·       Develop an external presence to help shape the thinking and develop best practices for circular economy product stewardship

External Focus

You will spend 25%+ of your time travelling externally to the company, participating in customer interactions, circular economy workgroups, and sustainability conferences



Job Qualifications

Qualifications

·       BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Life Cycle Assessment, Sustainability, or a related scientific field 

·       Expertise in Green Chemistry and Life Cycle Assessment

·       5-10 years of work experience providing product stewardship and regulatory compliance support 

·       Ability to handle uncertainty & ambiguity as part of a cross-functional team

·       Ability to learn and become well-versed in multiple markets & technologies in parallel 

·       An entrepreneurial mindset

·       Demonstrated project management experience 

·       Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, networking skills, written and oral communications skills, influence skills

·       Demonstrated business judgment, learning agility, intellectual curiosity, and emotional intelligence

·       Demonstrated ability to build trust, actively listen, and play to win

·       Demonstrated ability to deliver on commitments and pivot quickly on priorities as part of an agile team

·       Ability to give and receive candid feedback as part of a fearless organization

·       Fluency in the English language

 

Preferred Qualifications

·       Previous work experience in product certification, toxicology, green chemistry, or sustainability 

·       PhD in Chemistry or Toxicology 

·       A strong external network in circular economy, green chemistry, or sustainability

·       Product development and commercialization experience

·       Ability to think there never was a box to begin with
